Soil
- Beets do well with various types of soil, but prefer a mixed soil, soft and rich in nutrients.
- For beets, we recommend this soil mix.
Time Of Growth
- Expect about 5 to 7 days for germination, about 40 days for mature leaves and about 60 to 70 days for root harvest, depending on variety.
- Microgreens are ready when they reach about 3-5 cm in height.
HOW TO START
- For beetroots: Beets can be sown directly into pots, using a deep pot which will accommodate root growth. Plant seeds 2 to 3 cm deep every 6 to 8 cm.
- For beet leaves: Plant seeds 2 to 3 cm apart.
- For microgreens: disperse seeds evenly across the surface and lightly cover with soil.
- Cover with plastic wrap until the first sprouts show.
WATERING & CARE
- During the first weeks, ensure the soil is always slightly damp and even as the roots mature make sure to water constantly.
- Beet require a good soil humidity, to allow the roots to grow fully and sweet to the taste.
How To Use
- Beet roots are delicious boiled, baked, and grilled. Greens can be used in salads and sandwiches. You can also harvest as seedlings for micro green treats.
